The entire family of a business owner was brutally murdered at Rebone in Casteel near Bushbuckridge yesterday night, Tuesday 08 March 2022.

According to police reports, the neighbours heard sounds of gunshots coming from the house of the said business at around 19h30.

Thereafter two men were seen jumping over a wall towards the direction of R40 Road then disappear into the darkness.

Following the incident, police and the medical personnel were notified about the incident and upon their arrival they found that a man aged 58, his wife aged 50 and their two daughters, aged 11 and 08 were shot and certified dead at the scene of the crime.

According to brigadier Selvy mohlala, the victims were  identified by their family as Mr Johnson Fakude (58), a business owner of Faduku Cash Loans in Bushbuckridge and Acornhoek, his wife, Ms Gift Matsane (50), their two daughters, Princess Fakude (11) and Priscilla Fakude (08).

Mohlala further stated that all the victims had gunshot wounds and that the motive of the killing is unknown at this stage.

“Police opened a case with four counts of murder and a massive manhunt has been launched by the police,” added Mohala.

Police in Bushbuckridge urge anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the Branch Commander, Detective Colonel Dumisani Mbokane on 082 556 5630 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Alternatively members of the public can share information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, strongly condemned the brutal murder of the father and his entire family members.

Manamela has since ordered for the arrest of the suspects.

“We would like to send our condolences to the family of the murdered victims.

What has happened is so sad and can never be wished to anyone.

Those suspects must be hunted down and be brought to book immediately.

We know our community will not disappoint us but will assist with the information that we need at this point in time, ” said Manamela with courage and determination to ensure that justice is served.
