On Sunday, 20 March 2022 three cars were involved in an accident at Ruth Mompati street in Delmas where it was discovered that one of the cars involved was in fact reported stolen.
Reports indicate that the police at Delmas were alerted about the said accident and upon their arrival at the scene, noticed something mischievous on one of the three cars which was a grey Mazda.
Members realised that the vehicle’s disc did not correspond with its number plates.
On further check by the astute members, it was discovered that the man was actually driving a car that was reportedly stolen at Balfour in June 2021.
The driver of the car was then arrested and charged accordingly.
No injuries were reported on the scene.
He is expected to have his first court appearance at the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 March 2022 facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded members of the police at Delmas for their vigilance
The General further indicated that she feels proud to be working with members who show diligence and commitment to their work and members have displayed characters of true police officers who execute their duties with excellency.
