A man from Embalenhle lost his life after he was struck by the lightning today at around 12.15pm.
According to Embalenhle Police Spokesperson, Const Busisiwe Mthethwa, the deceased was walking with his friend when the rain started.
They both tried to hide under the tree, but then decided to proceed to the nearest shelter.
While they were running, a friend was in front and decided to check on the deceased.
He noticed that the deceased was no longer following him, but lying down and as he went nearer, he realized the deceased caught fire.
The deceased was certifies dead on scene by the paramedics and his friend was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
