A vehicle was allegedly hijacked from a 55 year-old man on Tuesday, 30 May 2023 at about 19h30 in the evening at Leandra (Leslie).
It is alleged that the victim was driving alone in a silver grey hatch back Audi from Evander to Leslie where the wife resides.
It is further alleged that immediately when the suspect parked outside the gate, the wife heard gunshots and she rushed outside where she found her husband lying on the ground and observed her husband’s vehicle driving off at a high speed.
The victim’s wife requested that the neighbour assists her with transporting the victim to a local clinic where the victim was declared dead after being shot on the right side of his chest.
The police in Leslie swiftly responded at the scene and on their arrival, the victim was already taken to Lebohang clinic in Leslie.
Thereafter, the police rushed to the clinic and found the victim’s wife who informed the police of what had happened.
A firearm was found at the scene of crime which belonged to the deceased.
According to Constable Ngobeni from Leslie Police Station, investigation is still underway, and no one has been arrested yet.
