Three(3) elderly persons from Siyanqoba old age group situated in Embalenhle will represent Mpumalanga Province during the National Golden Games to be held in Cape town to be held on the 6th and 11th November 2022.
Mrs Girly Mndebele, Mrs Anna Osekeng and Mrs Magdeline Moloi from Siyanqoba were selected during the Mpumalanga Provincial Golden Games which were held in Nelspruit during the month of September.
During these games, different teams got to compete against other regions.
Amongst the sporting code which the group participated in were: Relay; Soccer; Young scale; Goal shooting;
Ball kick and pass; and 100 meters to 800 meters run.
Gogo Anna Osekeng was chosen for goal shooting meanwhile gogo Girly Mndebele was chosen for ring the stick and gogo Magdalene Moloi was chosen for soccer.
The Siyanqoba group is determined to make a mark at the nationals with practice five (5) times a week led by their coach Thabo Tholo.
“This shows that we are working hard at training, I am very happy my team members were chosen to participate at the Nationals.
Gogo Moloi is familiar with the Nationals as this will be her second time taking part meanwhile Mndebele and Osekeng is their first time.
“I know they will make us proud. I want to increase the number next year, hopefully to travel with the Mpumalanga team to witness the games at national level”, said the coach Tholo with pride.
