SAPS Soshanguve officers confiscated a silver Polo 1.6 hatchback on Tuesday, 29 March 2022, at Aubrey Matlala Road in Soshanguve.
Visible Commander Colonel Celia acknowledged a telephonic tip-off from a community member on Tuesday morning, who saw two undisclosed males exchanging number plates from a silver-grey Nissan Juke and a silver Polo at Soshanguve Crossing Mall.
The police reacted quickly to the supplied information and managed to stop a silver Polo, whereby the driver stopped and fled, leaving the car deserted on the scene.
The incident took place in Block K, Soshanguve, about a kilometre away from where the exchange of number plates took place.
When the officials tested the car’s registration number and the VIN number, they found that the registration number applied to a different car, and the VIN number was of the same car but with a different registration number.
It was, later on, found that the car was linked with a few cases of robberies that happened recently around Soshanguve.
The police confiscated the vehicle for further investigation.
