Mr Celobuhle Motowangienza Mtungwa is a PR Cllr in the Govan Mbeki Council and a member of the Inkata Freedom Party (IFP).

He is the first member of the IFP to be elected in council in a decade.

Mtungwa was born in the rural area of Msinga at the Church of Scotland Hospital in Kwa- Zulu Natal.

He started primary education at Gwagolwayo Primary School and thereafter furthered his high school education at Mabizela High School.

According to Mtungwa, he could not further his studies after matric because he saw the need to work and provide for his family.

“I come from an under privileged family, and was assisted a lot by the IFP”, said Mutungwa

He said, he first joined politics when he was still in high School.

He further stated that he would attend local political meetings in his area and that is where his love for politics started to grow.

He added by saying, “I formally joined formal politics in 2007 as a youth organizer.

I was inspired by the way politicians would engage in debates on the radio and on television programs”.

He says that it is just a myth that the IFP is a political party for old people and that they kill people.

“There are a lot of politicians who have been killed in other political parties as well, so that is just unfortunate criminal act which could be committed  by anyone”, said Mtungwa.

Mtungwa stated that there is an issue with the employment rate within GMM, therefore he urges Cllrs and other government officials within the area to consider other people when employment opportunities arise.

“We should not give those jobs to our friends or our families.

We must make that opportunity accessible to all community members who wish to work and follow the proper channels of employment to afford interested party the opportunity to contest for the post”, added Mtungwa.
