eMbalenhle Ext 8 community members are calling for justice for Siphiwe Patrick Mtakwende, who was brutally murdered on the evening of 02 March 2026 at about 19h00.
It was alleged that the suspect approached Sphiwe and started using a brick to hit him in the head multiple times before fleeing the scene.
He later succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital with emergency personnel.
The suspect, identified as Phindile Mayekiswa, made a brief appearance before the Evander magistrates’ court on Friday, 13 March 2026, where he was remanded in custody.He is expected to appear again before the same court on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 for a formal bail hearing.
During his appearance, the community was picketing outside the court, demonstrating their demands for justice.
