The Secunda Sasol club cricket sports field was filled with red and white on Saturday, 20 August 2022.
Over 58 primary schools took part in the mini cricket festival, with over 150 officials on the grounds.
Learners from grade R to grade 5 ranging from under 6 to 10 years old participated at the festival despite the windy weather conditions on the day.
The learners, both girls and boys were eager and excited to compete at the event.
The provincial festival comprised of primary schools from all over Gert Sibande District Municipality, Ehlanzeni District Municipality and Nkangala District municipality.
The festival is held yearly, rotational in all the Mpumalanga regions with the aim of teaching learners the cricket sports at an early age.
“We are trying as much as possible to host this leagues in order to achieve transformation and gain more participation from black schools and coaches, in order to prepares them for upcoming trials in September 2022,’’ said Mkhululi Lupuwana the organizer of the event.
