Kinross Helping Hands Community Project handed out 100 food parcels to the community on Tuesday, 19 July 2022 as part of their Mandela Day initiative.
The food parcels were sponsored by Clive Mashishi Foundation and was collected at Wonders Stadium in Johannesburg.
Kinross Helping Hands was also sponsored with a truck to collect the items from Johannesburg on Monday, 18 July 2022.
“We were very excited about this innitiative because it was providing people with food stuff hampers and vegetables from Woolworths which would enable us to feed a 100 families,” said Pricilla Naidoo with excitement about the initiative.
Ms Naidoo stated further that they worked closely with Kinross clinic to identify child headed families as well as the less fortunate who are also on chronic medicication to be the number one beneficiaries.
According to Pricilla Naidoo, a member of Kinross Helping Hands, the NPO also has a feeding scheme which provides meals for the less fortunate at Kinross Ext 25 every Wednesday morning at 09h00.
βWe appeal to the community members to assist us by donating items such as maize meal, samp, rice, vegetables and other food items since the numbers of the beneficiaries are growing.
Our numbers are now just over 200 people,β emphasised Ms Naidoo.
