As part of ensuring safety in schools, the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison visited a certain Secondary School in Leandra unannounced on Tuesday, 23 January 2024.
The visit was part of many programmes the Department has with its stakeholders to keep schools safe.
The school and learners were searched by police officers and members of the Community Police Forum (CPF).
Dagga and knives were confiscated from learners, and the school principal promised to discipline the learners who were found with the confiscated items.
The school will further engage with the parents of the learners who were found with the mentioned items
The SAPS will again visit other schools to keep them safe.
