The police in Secunda suspect that the body discovered in Secunda over the weekend could be that of a 42-year-old man who was the subject of a police investigation into the murder of Ms. Busisiwe Precious Mkhabela (39).
Mkhabela was reportedly stabbed to death in Secunda, allegedly by her male companion, earlier this month on Tuesday, 02 January 2024).
A decomposed body of a man has now been discovered hanging from a tree in an open field near a certain shopping centre in Secunda on Saturday, 20 January 2024).
An inquest is being conducted to determine the cause of death as well as reveal the identity of the person.
Though DNA tests will be conducted in a quest to disclose the deceased’s identity, police investigators are of the view that he could be the same man who has been sought to assist in their investigation of a murder case.
Be as it may, currently it can be indicated that there were some personal items found during the time when the body was found.
These items include an identity document, a mobile phone, and clothes similar to those worn by the man who was subjected to the probe during his disappearance.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has already assembled a team of experts in the investigation field to thoroughly probe this matter.
“We trust that the members that were assigned in this case will do diligence and leave no stone unturned as they investigate without fear or favour, “said the General.
