Power cuts have been heightened to stage 4 on Friday night with a possibility that load-shedding might be extended to the weekend if any further delays or breakdowns occur.
Eskom announced that load-shedding will be implemented from Thursday until Friday midnight with a strong chance of power cuts over the weekend if more breakdowns take place.
“A delay in returning three generating units to service as well as breakdowns of seven units at five power stations are the reason for the ramped up load-shedding schedule,” the power utility said.
The revised load-shedding schedule for Thursday and Friday are as follows:
• Stage 2: Friday 05:00 – 00:00.
Eskom said the Koeberg Unit 2 is expected to return to service on Friday night, but warns of load-shedding over the weekend if further unit faults occur.
