Sibusiso Mabaso found his dream of being a fashion designer.
Even though he grew up having his own unique dressing style, Mabaso realized his passion only after matric.
“People always complemented my dressing style,” said Styela Dwang Fashion Designer.
His dream was to pursue media studies and become a director or producer of a media company.
Things did not turn up the way he expected and ended up working for a well-known restaurant.
“I hated every moment of the job and the money was also too little,” added Mabaso whose dissatisfaction ended up affecting his work performance.
Mabaso found his passion while he watched one actress interview on television.
According to him, the actress way of responding to the interview led to introspecting himself and that was when he realized that he always influenced others through his own dress style.
Mabaso went and register for a fashion designer course at a TVET College.
He received his first certificate and is still studying.
His career journey was inspired by Gert who was Bonang Matheba’s fashion designer and David Tlale.
He would also love to create employment by hiring young people and models for his Styela Dwang clothing range.
Mabaso is currently working from home since his business is still small, but he is adamant that one day he will own a fashion studio where people can go and buy his clothing range.
