Mpumalanga police arrested a man at Masoyi for setting alight ANC offices in Mbombela on Thursday, 17 March 2022.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, it is alleged that the suspect went to the offices of the ANC this morning, alleging that his complaints were not attended to, and he wanted to speak to the Liaison Officer.
“Unfortunately, the Liaison Officer was not available at the time.
Then he became furious and reportedly took out 2 litre bottle filled with petrol from his bag and started to pour petrol over the employees that were present as well as over the offices, set the office alight, and walked away.
The authorities were alerted about the incident and the fire was extinguished.
Three offices were reportedly damaged by the fire however no one was reportedly injured in this incident.
The estimated damage is unknown at this stage meanwhile the suspect is due to appear in court soon,” said Brigadier Mohlala
