An accident occurred on the Secunda/Embalenhle road this morning at about 5:45 am near Graceland Casino between several vehicles.

The accident involving seven (7) vehicles occurred after a red Ford Figo allegedly overturned on its own near Graceland Casino.

The Figo had children who were being transported to school and two (2) of the children suffered moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital.

According to an eyewitness, the drivers of the BMW X1, Corsa Lite, Toyota Ranger, and the bakery stopped on their respective sides of the road to assist the passengers of the Figo when a bus lost control and collided with a Toyota Quantum from behind, thereafter the said bus diverged to the right lane colliding the bakery and thereafter attempted to get back on her lane further colliding with an Opel Corsa Lite from the back.

The vehicles involved in the pile-up were allegedly driving towards Secunda from Embalenhle except for the bakery which was traveling from Secunda towards Embalenhle.

It is further alleged that the bus was transporting passengers who work in Secunda from Leandra.

They were several casualties on the scene of the accident, with most people suffering only moderate injuries.

It is also alleged that one of the people who were taken to the hospital succumbed to his injuries.

Some people took to social media to mention that they are on their way to the hospital to check on their loved ones.

One of the people on social media said, “I got off the bus that was involved in the accident because it was already full and I used the other one that was not yet full.” He further thanked the Lord for saving him.

Seskhona Media contacted Embalenhle SAPS and the spokesperson, Const Busi Mthethwa confirmed that the said accident indeed had casualties and the injured persons were taken to hospital, however, they cannot confirm at this point the number of deaths caused by the accident either on the patients’ way to hospital on in the hospital.
