One suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs during the Embalenhle SAPS Operation Shanela crime prevention initiative on Monday, 30 March 2026.
The operation focused on high-visibility policing, proactive patrols, and compliance inspections aimed at maintaining law and order and enhancing community safety.
“These coordinated efforts resulted in notable successes; one suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs after being found in possession of substances suspected to be illegal drugs.
Another suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as reckless and negligent driving, following a vehicle pursuit near a local shopping mall.
Embalenhle SAPS calls on all community members to take an active role in the fight against crime.
Crime prevention is not the responsibility of the police alone — it requires partnership, vigilance, and accountability from every member of society.
Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities, drug dealing, or illegal firearms immediately, refrain from supporting or protecting criminal elements within the community,” said Sgt Busisiwe Mthethwa, who is the communication officer for Embalenhle Police Station.
She further emphasized that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands. All criminal matters must be reported and handled through lawful processes.
“Community cooperation remains critical in ensuring that offenders are brought to justice and that our neighbourhoods remain safe.
Together, we can build a community where crime has no place”.
