The Executive Mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, Cllr Nhlakanipho Zuma, together with municipal officials and the Empower Machite team, visited the Bethal and eMzinoni substation to witness the delivery of the new 40 MVA transformer on Tuesday, 08 October 2024.
The new transformer is intended to upgrade the Bethal and eMzinoni electricity and bring stability to the power supply for citizens and businesses who have been affected by the outages.
This marks a significant achievement in the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s bulk infrastructure development.
It demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to facilitating growth and service delivery, attracting investment from both the government and businesses.
“We must continue to appreciate our national departments, which are contributing in terms of funding this project.
Secondly, we should also appreciate the quality of work and dedication from the contractor,” said GMM Executive Mayor, Cllr Zuma.
The new substation will provide reliable electricity to businesses and households in Bethal and eMzinoni and enable future expansion.
