Sasol hosted the 17th Annual Sports Weekend in the spirit of developing and promoting sports and recreation within Govan Mbeki Municipality communities for two days, on Saturday, 12 April, and Sunday, 13 April 2025.

The programme that was aimed at driving social cohesion through sports and development attracted hundreds of participants from across Mpumalanga and beyond.

Participants were hosted by the Sasol community centres in Secunda, eMbalenhle and Kinross for different sporting codes such as boxing, netball, rugby, tennis, basketball, karate, ballroom dance, cross-country running, rope skipping and football.

Sasol established the Sports Weekend in 2007, targeting amateur teams, particularly those from communities surrounding our operations.

The event has seen tremendous growth over the years, and some of the participants this year came from as far as Swaziland.
