Mrs Khethiwe Moloi(49) and Mr Dumisani Aaron Mahlasela (61) who are security guards at Blue Lion Security company responsible for guarding various clinics around Gert Sibande District Mpumalanga were released on bail by the Evander Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 18 May 2022.
The duo were arrested by the Secunda based Serious Organised Crime Investigation together with Secunda K9 ( Dog Unit) on Tuesday 17 May 2022 for contravening medical Act.
According to the Hawks Spokesperson Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, the information was received about a security guard who was selling medication.
“A search warrant was obtained and disruptive operation was conducted whereby the house of the suspect was visited and on arrival they were given permission to search the premises.
During the search different types of medications and surgical gloves found were confiscated and she was arrested.
Further investigation led the team to her colleague Mahlasela staying at Emalahleni.
The team proceeded to his house, during the search different medications which required prescriptions were found and confiscated, he was also arrested.
The pair appeared before the Evander Magistrate Court on Wednesday and they were released on R3000 bail each and the case was postponed to 14 July 2022 for further investigation, ” said Capt Sekgotodi.
