In remembrance of Mrs. Maphala Gulybe, EMbalenhle Aged Group hosted a grand opening of their newly built facility on Tuesday, 20 August 2024, in eMbalenhle.

The centre provides various services for elderly people in eMbalenhle.

The elderly are also encouraged to exercise and participate in different activities, including sports, sewing, and baking, and are served nutritional meals.

The aim of the event was to honour the late Mrs. Maphala Gulube, founder of the Embalenhle Aged Group Service Centre, and other fallen EAG members.

“I am grateful to stand in front of everyone and speak about someone I know. Gogo Gulube loved and enjoyed helping the community, she was even brave enough to pass the letter of donations to build Maphala Gulube Primary School herself to the former President of the Republic, the late Nelson Mandela,” said Mr. Mahlasela from the Pula Nala Development Trust.

The newly built faculty has a fully equipped kitchen, bathing facilities, a dining hall, and offices for the executive staff.

“It was not easy, but we made it possible, and I know that Gogo Gulube is proud of us because she also wanted us to have our own safe and comfortable environment,” said Ruth Motsatsi.

Various speakers expressed their appreciation for the significance of the newly built facility.

“I urge the community of eMbalenhle to respect and value this facility because I believe that it will also help the next generation to come,” said Govan Mbeki Municipality Speaker of the Council, Cllr Fikile Magagamela.
