The Thomo family in eMbalenhle Extension 14 are mourning the tragic loss of their beloved son Snethemba Thomo (26), who was allegedly fatally stabbed by his girlfriend, Nomusa Hlatshwayo (35).
According to information received from the family, Snethemba and Nomusa were in a romantic relationship.
A friend of Snethemba picked him up from home on Saturday, 13 June 2026, in the afternoon.
His mom was woken up by community members in the middle of the night, alerting her that he had collapsed not far from home with stab wounds.
It is said that the girlfriend came to the scene where Snethemba had collapsed, and allegedly confessed to stabbing him.
He was rushed to the clinic and later transferred to Evander Hospital for emergency treatment.
Snethemba succumbed to his wounds on Sunday, 14 June 2026, whilst in hospital.
Furthermore, according to the family, Snethemba is not known to be a violent person; they are even surprised that the said girlfriend, who was arrested, was with the same friend who picked him up on the said Saturday.
It was further alleged that they were together at the time of the stabbing.
Nomusa Hlatshwayo made a brief appearance before the Evander Magistrates ‘ Court today, 17 June 2026, where she is charged with murder.
Her matter was postponed to 24 June 2026 for a legal aid application and a possible bail application; she was remanded in custody.
