Three suspects Sfiso Mkhwanazi(22), Zamokuhle Zungu(29) and Sakhayedwa Ntombela(33) appeared at Bethal Magistrate’s Court today 04 October 2022 facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Their appearance came after they were apprehended and handed over to the police by members of Bethal CPF on Sunday 02 October 2022.

It is alleged that members of the CPF received a tip-off from STRATCON Security about a blue Mazda 3 which happened to be hijacked at Evander on Sunday 02 October 2022 afternoon heading to Bethal. The CPF members together with ACSU Security dispatched members to be on the look-out for the said vehicle on the N17 between Bethal and Ermelo.

While on the road, the CPF members and ACSU Security personnel spotted the vehicle which matched the description given near the weigh-bridge. They then alerted the police about the vehicle before they could stop it and after stopping the vehicle, three men were found and apprehended.

The police responded swiftly and drove to the scene where they found the CPF members and ACSU Security personnel with the suspects whereby the suspects were handed over to the police with the stolen motor vehicle.

The matter was then postponed to Tuesday 11 October 2022 for formal bail applications.
