Aphelele Nomangola was crowned Jnr Teen of Miss Teen South Africa 2020 1st Princess.
The event took place this year October in Gauteng.
According to the Grade 11 learner at Kiriyatswane Secondary School, she saw Miss Teen SA advert online and decided to fill in the forms.
“Part of my task was to donate clothes to a local orphanage, of which I did,” said Aphelele adding that she was surprised when she received news that she made it to the finals.
The reason why she was allocated to the Junior Teen category was because of her age.
“After scooping 2nd Princess title at the Miss Ekasi 2019 in Evander Fortis Hotel, I realized it is possible,” Aphelele added.
Preparing for the whole competition was not easy due to COVID-19, as she had to practice everything on her own, including the walk and how to answer the questions.
“Arriving at the event on the big day I was scared because all the girls were beautiful, so I was expecting anything.
I also convinced myself that I am perfect in my own way and whoever win deserves it.
When they called out my name, I could not believe it”
Her future includes entering Miss South Africa one day.
Aphelele appeals to the individuals and businesses to sponsor her as she will represent South Africa in Turkey next year.
She needs a R50 000 donation, of which R5 000 should be paid by December 2020 to book her space.
At the end of the conversation, she appealed to the community of Govan Mbeki Municipality to use her so that she can improve her public speaking capability.
