Fani Vilakazi’s creativity saw him starting a unique project of recycling bottles and turn them into decoration items. “After matric I realized that it was not easy to get employment and I sat down and thought of what I can do to keep myself busy,” said Vilakazi who is also a twin.
Vilakazi was born in Embalenhle and later moved to Kinross with his parents. “Being unemployed is not
easy and makes one to do bad things, but I decided to be on the good side of the law by keeping myself busy.
I realized that there are so many bottles all over and people are not using them.
Because I love art, it was easy for me to come up with an idea of using them for a good purpose,” said Vilakazi who is locally well known for his project and also being supported, especially by people from Kinross Ext 25 where he stays.
He mostly uses whiskey bottles, fill them with stones, cut some roses and also put rubber fishes to create his magical art.
“I also realized that people love different things and most of my clients use decor bottles for their sitting room or bedrooms,” added Vilakazi who further mentioned that he also welcome new ideas from his clients to meet their expectations.
His future plans include owning a shop where people can go in and buy or negotiate with someone with a shop to accommodate his items.
Vilakazi concluded by saying he would like to get opportunity to display his work on platforms such as Sasol Techno X and other available platforms.
He is available on Facebook page: Decor Bottles or can be contacted at 0673339310.
