Vukanini Taxi Associations (VUKTA) women’s desk hosted elderly people on Tuesday, 23 August 2022.

The women’s desk compiled a list of elderly people from around Embalenhle as part of commemorating women’s month.

A total of 50 Blankets were gifted to the elderly people who were present on the day and a list of those whose names were not submitted were noted down as they will be catered for at a later stage.

The purpose the event was to encourage and remind elderly people that the association is there for them whenever they are in need.

This initiative has been ongoing for the past years and was only interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic when people were unable to meet.

The women’s desk bounced back last year 2021, continuing from were they left off during the pandemic with other initiatives including this one with the help of VUKTA Association leadership making such projects a success.

“By doing this, we are giving back to the community, starting with the most important care givers by giving them hope meanwhile reminding them that we care and will always be there for them.

We are grateful to Mr Fanyana Maleleza (Chairperson of Vukta) along with his Executive for the support they give to the women’s desk”, said Mrs Sbongile Mnisi Maseko, Chairlady of the VUKTA women’s desk.

The event was braced by other women from South African Taxi Association Council (SANTACO) who appreciated the gesture by the VUKTA women’s desk.
