Seven (7) occupants were declared deceased on the N4 toll road near Middelburg last night, 13 October 2023 at about 23h00 in a crash involving a minibus taxi and an articulated truck on the N4 toll road near Middelburg.
Six (6) occupants were seriously injured, and three (3) more people escaped with slight injuries.
The deceased included six passengers and the taxi driver.
It is alleged that the accident occurred when the taxi seemingly lost control and overturned.
It was also hit by the truck.
The taxi was reportedly pulling a trailer, and it was travelling from Johannesburg to Mozambique.
All the injured were rushed to the hospitals in Middelburg for further medical attention.
The driver of the truck was not harmed.
It is not clear what caused the crash, but the investigation is already underway.
