The police in Leslie have raised concern over an increase in sexual assault cases involving children in the area, with some of the alleged perpetrators reportedly being the children’s fathers or guardians.
Police are appealing to parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to changes in their children’s day-to-day behaviour, as these may help them identify signs that something could be wrong.
In recent incidents, girls aged between 6 and 12 years were allegedly sexually assaulted by their fathers.
Police are urging parents and guardians to create a safe environment where children feel comfortable speaking up about anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Community members are also encouraged to report suspected cases of child abuse to the police to ensure that children receive the necessary protection and support.
