ESTABLISHMENT OF A PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION FACILITY IN MPUMALANGA
ABOUT US
The Impact Catalyst is a collaborative partnership in the form of a Non-Profit Company to create mechanisms that drive large-scale, socio-economic development initiatives through public-private partnerships.
The initiatives are designed to leverage collaboration across all sectors and will be selected for impact beyond the scale of individual participants. Joint programmes are established between the Impact Catalyst, mining houses and the Office of the Premier in the selected provinces through the development of Collaborative Regional Development (CRD) Platforms.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Impact Catalyst is currently driving an initiative to establish a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) manufacturing facility in Mpumalanga. The facility will manufacture and distribute selected PPE products in around Mpumalanga.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is any form of device or clothing worn to minimise hazards that cannot be controlled or removed. Products include hand protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, surgical masks, protective clothing, protective footwear, head, eye, and face protection, as well as fall protection. The primary industries that use PPE in South Africa include construction, mining, petroleum, and food manufacturing industries.
CALL FOR OPERATORS Expressions of Interests (EOIs) are hereby invited from potential operators (SMMEs) with experience in PPE manufacturing and/or distribution to become the operator of the envisaged PPE manufacturing business to be established in Mpumalanga province. Preference in terms of locality of the potential operator (s) will be given to respondents from Govan Mbeki and eMalahleni Local Municipality. The selected operator will jointly develop a business plan with the service provider appointed by the Impact Catalyst to take up the opportunity.
