The community of Ward 11 in eMbalenhle has shut down a shop owned by a foreign national on the alleged sexual harassment of a 10-year-old girl.
The child was said to have complained to her parents yesterday, 02 February 2026, that the shopkeeper inappropriately touched her and took pictures of her, giving comments that she is “nice and perfect”.
The mother went to confront the shopkeeper and demanded to see the pictures he took.
Pictures of the child were found on deleted bin on the phone.
One of the photos showed a child blocked by the shopkeeper’s two feet, with the child in between his legs.
The police were said to have been called, and it was alleged that they said there was no case.
Today, the community, together with the parents, went to Embalenhle Police Station and demanded that a case be opened.
The police were said to have registered an inquiry, and it will be investigated.
Secunda Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit was also informed of the complaint.
