Govan Mbeki Municipality invites qualifying customers to take advantage of the Debt Incentive and Good Payers’ Incentive Scheme and take the opportunity to bring their municipal accounts back into good standing.
DEBT RELIEF AVAILABLE
Customers with qualifying municipal debt older than 12 months may receive the following debt relief:
Residential: 70% relief – pay 30%
Businesses: 30% relief – pay 70%
Non-Profit Organisations: 50% relief – pay 50%
The remaining balance may be paid immediately or through an approved repayment arrangement over a maximum period of 36 months, subject to the qualifying criteria.
GOOD PAYERS ARE ALSO REWARDED
Customers who have kept all their municipal accounts fully paid and up to date for 12 consecutive months may qualify for an incentive credit for two consecutive billing months,
subject to the approved qualifying criteria. Customers who enter into repayment arrangements must continue to pay their current municipal account in full and on time, together with the agreed monthly instalment.

Visit your nearest municipal office to collect an application form and receive assistance with your application.

Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
Friday: 07:30 – 14:00
PLEASE NOTE
The scheme does not apply to National or Provincial Government accounts. Employees of these institutions may still apply in their personal capacity, provided they meet the qualifying criteria.
