Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM) conducted an Integrated Development Plan (IDP) public consultation in Kinross Ward 16 on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
The meeting was aimed at engaging residents on the municipality’s development plans, service delivery programmes and priorities for the area.
Cllr Rose Nkabinde outlined the purpose and objectives of the consultation, while MMC TP Mtsweni presented the municipality’s IDP to community members.
The consultation also provided residents with an opportunity to raise concerns, identify community priorities and provide input on the municipality’s proposed development plans.
During the question-and-answer session, residents raised several concerns regarding the needs and priorities of Ward 16. Some community members alleged that issues previously brought to the municipality’s attention had not yet been addressed.
Residents also raised questions about the newly established Extension 34 development along the roadside.
Community members sought clarity on who would be allocated or occupy the area and questioned the municipality’s communication regarding the development.
Some residents claimed that they had registered for stands approximately ten years ago but had not received further communication from the municipality regarding the outcome of their applications.
