Two (2) male suspects were arrested on Wednesday 05th of April 2023 at Embalenhle in connection with the alleged attempted murder of Mr Fanyana Sbanyoni who is the chairperson of VUKTA association and also the chairperson of SANTACO in the Mpumalanga province.
Allegations are that the two suspects were booked-at a guest house near KOKO lounge awaiting to assassinate Maleleza at the sports stadium in eMbalenhle, just near the stadium where he was supposed to monitor his soccer team whilst it practiced.
It is further alleged that Mr Sibanyoni received a call from an anonymous inmate who is serving time in prison where he was made aware of the hit against him.
The informant described the duo and the location where they were positioned.
Information received from the anonymous source was shared with the police at Embalenhle.
The suspects were then cornered at their location and they were found in position of one a firearm.
One suspect was taken to Evander hospital and the other kept in custody.
The duo identified as Warren Thamsanqa and Ngubane Sbusiso appeared before the Evander Magistrate Court on Tuesday 11 April 2023, where they abandoned bail after choosing Legal Aid to represent them.
The two are facing two charges, count one being conspiracy to commit murder and count two is incitement to commit murder.
The case was then postponed to 26 May 2023 for further investigation and a possible bail application.
Outside court, Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni thanked the support from the Vukta members who were present in court for their continuous support on such cases.
He further mentioned that they will meet again when the person who hired the hit men appears before court.
