Community members in Eendrag, located just after Leslie, are concerned about dead cows that are allegedly dumped by farm owners near their residential area.
The community is currently complaining about the bad odor from the cows, which they say is unbearable and smells awful.
The said cows are alleged to have been poisoned, so when they die, the farm owners dump them in the nearby open veld.
The matter has since been reported to the SAPS and SPCA.
It is further alleged that the SPCA instructed the farmers to either bury or burn the cows, but the farmers have continued to illegally dump them to date.
The Seskhona team contacted the municipality, and the media spokesperson, Mr Donald Green, stated that the municipality was not aware of the situation.
GMM Law Enforcement therefore attended to the complaint on Monday, 20 November 2023 but could not engage with the farmers as they don’t reside in Eendrag, but promised a follow-up would be made regarding the matter.
