A women from eMbalenhle opened a case of rape at the beginning of April this year, where she alleged that she was raped by an unknown suspect who was driving a local taxi (Iskopasi) she took last year August 2022.

The victim alleges that she took a taxi at about 19h00 from Ext. 2 in eMbalenhle which had two occupants at the time.

Whilst left alone in the taxi as the passenger, the driver told her that he will drive past gate 8 where he is meant to fetch people who were going to the same location as her.

The driver therefore drove to gate 8 where he parked in an open veld and the said driver allegedly forcefully took her out of the taxi whilst closing her mouth.

He then pushed her to the ground where he raped the victim.

The victim further alleged that the said driver threatened to shoot and kill her if ever she was to disclose the rape to anyone.

The victim is now 8 months pregnant from the rape incident.

Police in eMbalenhle call upon anyone who might have information on the said incident to come forward which will assist in the investigation of the case.
