The duo was arrested  by stock theft unit investigation officer after conducting investigation on stock theft case that was reported for investigation at Mzinoni police station on 29 November 2023.

Sergeant James Mthimunye was assigned to investigate the matter and with his experience in investigation, he followed all the information received during investigation and managed to arrest two suspects for stock theft at Mzinoni Township.

According to information at police disposal, the accused persons stole two sheep from the kraal at Driehoek farm in Mzinoni area in the district of Govan Mbeki depriving the owner his lawful property.

Police recovered the two sheep with the value of R4000.00 from the shack in Mzinoni Township at Afghan section which were tied with a rope and after the recovery, photos of the sheep were circulated on farmers whatsapp group where a lawful owner managed to positively identify them with the brand mark.

The accused, Nkabinde Mfanafuthi Muthiwakhe(42) and Malaza Amos Mandla(35) appeared before Bethal Magistrate’s on several occasions and during their last appearance, witnesses testimony against the accused was presented before court was sufficient enough for the Magistrate whom found both accused guilty of theft of stock or produce read with section 1 act 57/1959 and sentenced the accused to 2 years imprisonment or fine of five thousand rand(R5000) and in terms of Section 103(2) Act 60/2000 of firearm control act, both accused are declared unfit to possess firearms.
