Sbusiso Jafar Chamo (30) appeared before the Evander magistrate’s court on Thursday, 11 September 2025, for his sentencing.
He was found guilty and convicted of the crimes that took place on the 28th of August 2025 for Count (1)housebreaking with intent to steal and theft
Count (2) Robbery with aggravating circumstances
He was arrested in February 2020 after he was linked to a shop break-in where he stole seven thousand rands (R7000.00) worth of groceries, he further broke into a house, where he hit a complainant with a brick on the head and stole a TV and Cash. He was later found in possession of all the stolen items.
He was given bail and had been attending the matter from outside custody.
He was sentenced as follows:
Count 1: 10 years imprisonment, of which 5 years is suspended
Count 2: 15 years imprisonment
Effective term of prison is 20 years and the sentence will not run concurrently.
