Isithembiso Sezintombi Cultural Group is a group that was established in 2012 of young maidens gathered to practice traditional dance and songs, and they are taught to stay pure by keeping their virginity.

In closing of 2023, the young girls had an end-of-year event early in order to start preparing for their final examinations.

Amongst the maidens, some were from various parts of eMbalenhle, together with their leaders.

Community members filled the streets of Ext. 1 cheering and chanting praises towards the girls as they danced and sang throughout the parade.

The parade ended in Ext. 8, where the young girls were given a chance to showcase their performances in drama, different traditional dances, and poetry.

Mrs. Dlamini, founder and CEO of the Isithembiso Sezintombi cultural group, explained that they also teach young girls how to behave at home and school.

“The most important thing that these girls should know is to play far from boys because one mistake can ruin one’s life,” further explained Mrs. Dlamini.

Mrs. Dlamini continued to explain that the cultural group also teaches the girls about different stages females go through while growing up.
