ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula met with the ANCYL NEC today, following a period of heightened tensions, with ANCYL President Collen Malatji and Secretary-General Mntuwoxolo Ngudle having suspended each other.

According to the statement released by #MyANC at its Facebook page, the meeting was part of strengthening organisational unity and advancing the programme of rebuilding and renewal.

In his leaked letter, ANCYL Secretary-General Mntuwoxolo Ngudle stated that the NEC of the youth league convened on 20 November 2025. During its meeting, it was resolved that the president of the youth league, Collen Malatji, should be suspended with immediate effect pending investigation.

Some of the reasons cited in the letter include unilaterally convening a parallel meeting of the ANCYL and misleading the structures in terms of the role of the president.

He was also accused of excluding Ngudle and the Treasury general in preparations for the upcoming 27th Congress.

The ANC released a letter after a meeting between the Secretary-General of the ANC, Fikile Mbalula and the ANCYL NEC.

In its statement, the African National Congress said, “The meeting resolved that all suspension letters issued in relation to the matter be immediately withdrawn.

It is agreed that the Secretary General of the ANCYL will issue a public apology as part of restoring unity and organisational discipline.”
