Funda Mfundi Drug Awareness School Tour for their 4th annual tour, visited Sharpeve Primary School in eMbalenhle Ext. 21 on Wednesday, 22 February 2023.

The program and the purpose of the tour aim to caution, alert and educate about the danger of substance abuse, especially nyaope drug which is npopular in most townships especially in eMbalenhle.

The program started in 2019 by touring eMbalenhle and all surrounding schools in Govan Mbeki Municipality after they noticed that drugs are now being traded on school premises and children are being used to promote such business in schools.

However, its sequel in huge number of dropouts increase in schools because of nyaope drug.

This year, 2023, all members of Funda Mfundi Drug Awareness organization are all celebrating the 4th annual of their program and now they escalated in touring both secondary and primary schools to raise awareness about drugs and other social issues that affect young people directly and indirectly.

Up so far, the organization has toured seven (7) primary schools and three (3) secondary schools and the tour is currently running.

This organization was initiated by an ex-addict, Absalom Nkabinde who was addicted in the past seven (7) years and never went to rehabilitation. 

He only got help from the Methodist Apostolic Church and support from individuals. 

Most importantly, he told himself that he had enough of drugs. 

Now he is living a clean life and doing wonders in the community as he also initiated “Zithole Mjita Drugs Kills”, which focuses on helping our fellow brothers and sisters who are hooked on drugs and a number of drug prevention measures in schools and the community at large.individuals. Most importantly

“The organization makes sure to reach every school, even though schools, currently, we are running without any funds or sponsorship and it is difficult to reach schools that are far from us. 

However, in this regard, we kindly request private and government departments to support this initiative by combining resources to better our work.
