In honour of the top achievers, Gert Sibande TVET College, Evander Campus held its Students Award Ceremony on Friday, 20 May 2022.
The students received certificates for subjects which they got outstanding marks and vouchers worth R350.
In his speech during the ceremony Campus Manager, Mr J. Nkosi encouraged his learners to be self proclaimed and take ownership of their identity.
“You are special and unique, so do not copy other other people or envy what they have.
Just be the best version of yourself, and success and prosperity will be all yours,” he said.
Ms Takalani Ndou who was also a student at GS college shared her story and those who assisted her on her journey to success.
Ndou said she had nothing when she studied at GS college, not even rent or transport money.
“I thank ma’am Mdlankomo for her assistance and through external stakeholders I managed to complete my studies”.
The trick is self determination, she added.
Ndou is currently on an Artisanship programme in Millwright with Sasol Mining, Secunda.
