Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) Executive Mayor, Cllr Walter Mngomezulu has, on Wednesday, 16 February 2022, sent condolences to the families of the nine pupils who were killed in an accident.
The pupils were killed after a minibus they were travelling in overturned and plunged into a stream on the D267 road between Mayflower and Dundonald.
GSDM calls on all road users to practice safe driving to help avoid road accidents and loss of life.
“On behalf of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, I would like send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the pupils who lost their lives in the accident.
We hope that the affected families will find comfort, hope and courage during this time of painful loss and we also wish those injured a speedy recovery,” said Cllr Mngomezulu in a statement of communication during a GSDM special sitting of Council on Thursday 17 February 2022.
