The 38-year-old Democratic Alliance councillor, Victor Desmond Dudley, who served at the Gert Sibande District Municipality, was laid to rest on Saturday, 26 April 2025, at Lillian Ngoyi Hall in Secunda.
Cllr Dudley was a full-time councillor at GSDM deployed by the DA since his election in November 2021.
He met his demise on the 9th of April 2025, after a short illness and fighting for his life in hospital.
Amber Dudley, daughter of the late Cllr Dudley, stood with confidence in front of the congregation and shared a hymn and a letter on behalf of herself and her sibling, Liam Dudley.
“Those special memories of you, Daddy, will always bring a smile. If only we could have you back, Daddy, for just a little while. Then we could sit and talk again, just like we used to do. You always meant so very much and always will too,” said Amber while reading the letter.
Charlton Visage, cousin of the late Dudley, also described him as a person who had respect for people around him, was kind and very supportive.
“We all saw how his daughter stood in front of us with courage and confidence. I am pretty sure that she was taught by her father, and I know that Victor would have done the same. My cousin was a supportive father, brother and cousin to all of us, and we are grateful to have shared these years with him,” he said.
Cllr Dudley will be remembered for his enthusiastic participation in GSDM sports activities. His love for sports reflected his energetic spirit, teamwork, and dedication to fostering unity and well-being among his colleagues and community members.
