It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we, the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM), announce the untimely passing of Cllr Victor Dudley, a full-time Councillor at GSDM representing the Democratic Alliance, who was a dedicated member of the GSDM Council since his election in November 2021.
The Speaker of Council at GSDM, Cllr Busisiwe Sekhonde, said, “This morning, we were shocked and heartbroken to learn of his passing, a deep loss to the municipality and the entire community of Gert Sibande District. His sudden departure leaves a gap not only in the political landscape of our district but also in the hearts of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.”
As a young leader, Cllr Dudley was a passionate advocate for development and progress. He was an active and invaluable member of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and also the Infrastructure and Technical Services Portfolio Committee at the time of his passing. He consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the lives of our citizens through sound decision-making in the different committees he served in.
He will also be remembered for his enthusiastic participation in GSDM sports activities. His love for sports reflected his energetic spirit, teamwork, and dedication to fostering unity and well-being among his colleagues and community members.
On behalf of the entire Gert Sibande District Municipality family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Cllr Dudley’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. We stand in solidarity with them and share in their grief. May his soul rest in peace.
