The Delmas High Court is expected to hand down a sentence for convicted murderer Jabulane Nkosi on Thursday, 03 July 2025, at the Evander Regional Court.

Nkosi, who is 29 years old, appeared before the Delmas High Court on Friday, 27 June 2025. He has been previously found guilty of the murder of his then-girlfriend, Boitsoko Khoza, by the same court.

He has been in custody for 18 months since his arrest in 2023. He maintained his innocence throughout his trial, despite compelling evidence against him.

Boitsoko Khoza’s mother, Ms Ester Letoaba, also took a stand, whereby she narrated how her daughter’s death affected her and the family. She told the court that Boitsoko was the breadwinner and took care of her. She broke down on the witness stand, accusing Jabulane of lying to the court, claiming he did not stay with her daughter, yet she knew they were living together and that Boitsoko supported him financially. She further told the court that Jabulane once dragged her daughter out of church in front of the priest and church congregation.

”Jabulane, my child was feeding you, she supported you and bought you clothes and everything, but you killed her because you are a killer,” said Boitsokos’ mother, sobbing as she testified before the court.

The defence lawyer, Mr Tebogo Aphane, has asked the court not to impose a life sentence on his client, arguing he is still young and can still be rehabilitated.

He further pleaded with the court to organize (POP) Public Order Police, as they fear the public might be violent towards them since the matter had been of public interest.
