Katlego’s journey to stardom began on the dusty streets of eMbalenhle, where she would often put on impromptu performances for her friends and family. Her natural flair for drama and charisma caught the attention of her language teacher, Mrs. Mkhize, who encouraged her to join the school’s drama club. Katlego’s talent was soon discovered, and she began to dazzle audiences at local drama competitions and festivals.

As she honed her craft, Katlego’s trophy cabinet grew, filled with gleaming medals and gleaming cups that symbolize her dedication and perseverance. Her most recent triumph was at the prestigious KwaZulu-Natal Drama Festival, where she scooped top prize for her captivating performance in a Shakespearean monologue.

“In 5 years’ time, I see myself acting in South African films, productions, and even TV shows. I would also love to perform on local stages in order to collaborate with talented actors,” said Katlego.

She further emphasized that she would be happy to have a strong portfolio of work and be recognized as a young, growing Black woman who brought the record around her township. “I am excited for this journey because I’ll continue doing what I love while it brings big opportunities for myself and my family,” she said.

Katlego’s success has not only brought pride to her family and friends but has also put Kusasalethu Comprehensive School and Embalenhle on the map. The learners and teachers are abuzz with excitement, and the school’s drama department is experiencing a surge in popularity. “Katlego is going to put our school on the map,” beamed Mrs. Mkhize, her proud teacher.

As the 16-year-old talented girl prepares to take the stage by storm, her community is rallying behind her. The local business owners are chipping in to support her endeavors, and the town is coming together to celebrate her success.
