Department of Justice, Evander Magistrates’ Court, in collaboration with SAPS and Evander TVET College, launched 16 days of activism against gender-based violence on Monday, 24 November 2025, at Laerskool Hoerveld Evander.

The visit aims to raise awareness and educate Learners on gender based violence and how to go about reporting abuse.

The stakeholders raised the most concerning topics in most schools ‘bullying.

The Learners were made aware of the dangers of bullying other children and how it affects the victim and the perpetrators in the long run.

They were also advised on the dangers of using a now-popular drug called Chuff Vape, which most Learners are pressured into using.

“We must stop bullying each other and understand that we are coming from different homes. Instead, we must assist each other and not laugh at other children who do not have certain things,” Said Warrant Officer Zuki Mxhotjelwa, spokesperson of Evander SAPS, advising the learners to refrain from bullying.

The court also donated school uniforms to the school for needy learners.

The global theme for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence in 2025 is “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls“. This theme highlights the urgent need to address online abuse, harassment, and control that women and girls face through technology.

The 2025 campaign encourages governments, technology companies, and communities to work together to create safer online spaces and prevent digital violence.
