The Lubisi family celebrated the uMemulo of their daughter, Tsepiso Nqobile Lubisi, on Saturday, 01 June 2024, at their homestead in Leandra.
Umemulo is defined as a traditional Zulu coming of age ceremony for women.
This ritual is normal done for females at the age of 21, but it can be done at any stage of a woman’s life. It varies and depends on circumstances.
Tsepiso Lubisi now 23 years has stayed pure by keeping her virginity.
The young 23-year-old was accompanied by other young maidens with joyful songs and dances.
“I’m speechless but proud of you.
I pray that you grow up and become the woman we all want you to be,” said the grandmother, Sarah Lubisi.
Tsepiso’s uncle emphasised how he will always be there for his niece.
“I am doing everything for you, but deep down, I am doing it for your late mother.
She left us when you were still young, but you grew up and stayed strong,” said the uncle, Mr Lubisi.
With tears of joy, Tsepiso’s father, Mr Sibusiso Lubisi, thanked his daughter for making him a proud father.
In closing, the young maiden thanked her family, friends, and everyone who supported her throughout this journey.
