The Mlangeni family is excited about moving into their new home. This followed after the family had lost their house and belongings due to a tragic fire in 2016 and had since been waiting for the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlement to aid them with building their new home.
Department of Human Settlement came to their rescue earlier this year and appointed a contractor to build the Mlangeni family their new home. Although the MEC of the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlement, Mr Speed Mashelo had promised after his visit to the family when he was in Leandra on 22 March 2022 to return for the formal handover of the house and the fitting of the furniture but has since failed to do so.
Mr Mlangeni said he could not wait any longer for the handover since his house was finished, therefore he moved himself into the house.
Mrs Mlangeni expressed her gratitude and said she was happy that they finally have a clean and safe home to live and is no longer afraid of what could happen when it rains.
