The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will on Monday, 15 June 2026, host the Provincial Youth Day Commemoration in Perdekop Stadium under the theme: “Our National Commitment to the Future, For Freedom Lives in Every Generation.”

The Provincial Commemoration takes place on Monday to give credence to the national celebrations that will take place in Gauteng on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.

The commemoration will commence with a fun health walk by more than 200 young people starting from the Perdekop Municipal Building and ending at the Perdekop Stadium.

The Provincial Commemoration comes after the launch of the Phanda Thursdays campaign aimed at mobilizing the youth to use their time to hustle for economic opportunities offered by the government and the private sector, held in Secunda early this month.

This year’s Youth Day marks the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Youth Uprising, which is one of the defining moments in the country’s liberation history.

The celebration will also feature a vibrant entertainment programme with performances by Abafana bakaMgqumeni, Poet Sindy Myeni, DJ Mickie, Amavuma Traditional Group, Lintombi Zojama Traditional Group, Ludvondolo Traditional Group, Bobo and Toto.
